At its 2010 annual Summer Retreat held July 13-15, Sheila Frost, Vice President of Wellness and Nutrition for Opaa! Food Management announced the McDonald County Team as the recipients of the 2009-10 Marketing Award. McDonald County's team includes Anna Barton, Director of Nutrition Services, Kim Wilson, Assistant Director and Suzette Edwards, Assistant Director. The McDonald County Management Team was selected by company officials from among all of Opaa!'s Directors of Nutrition Services across the State of Missouri. The criteria for selection included meeting lunch and overall participation goals, completing at least one marketing event a month, implementing at least two new areas of service, exhibiting hospitality, and engaging students in National School Lunch Week, National School Breakfast Week, and Nutrition Advisory Council meetings.

McDonald County's team was selected for this award for their successful dedication and effort to market the Opaa! program in the McDonald County R-1 School District.

In presenting the award, Sheila Frost noted that the McDonald County team worked together from the very beginning of the school year to increase participation in their district. This year the team opened a new high school facility, which included a new scramble system and the implementation of as many choices as the facility would allow. They also promoted and encouraged students to enroll in the free and reduced meal program. In an effort to encourage students to eat breakfast in the morning, the McDonald County team applied for, and was awarded an Opaa! marketing grant to implement "Breakfast in the Classroom" as a pilot program. Frost further noted that this team hosted a Grandparents Day throught out the school district, which was well received by all.

Food Management, announced Debbie Stephenson, Opaa!'s Kitchen Manager for Nixa High School in the Nixa School District, as the recipient of the 2009-10 Kitchen Manager of the Year award. Debbie was selected by company officials as the Kitchen Manager of the Year from among all of Opaa!'s Kitchen Managers across the State of Missouri. The criteria for selection included top ranking in the categories of leadership, initiative, food quality and presentation, food and worker safety, commitment to Opaa!'s mission of "Make Their Day", customer focus, responsiveness, and creativity.

During the award presentation, Cohen explained that the process of selecting the Kitchen Manager of the Year begins with a nomination process. Debbie received over 40 nominations from her supervisor, team members in the kitchen, and members of the school district administration and staff. Those submitting nominations for Debbie describe her as "Positive, Hard-working, Creative, Fun, Cooperative, Listens, Friendly, Kind, Adds new reasons for everyone to eat with Opaa!, Great food, Has taken the Company's mission statement-Make Their Day!-to heart, Leader." Food Management, announced Marita Harris, Opaa!'s Director of Nutrition Services for the Fayette R-III School District, as the recipient of the 2009-10 Director of the Year award. Company officials selected Marita as Director of the Year from among all of Opaa!'s Directors of Nutrition Services across the state of Missouri. The criteria for selection included top ranking in the categories of creative marketing, employee training, employee safety, fiscal performance, and student and adult participation.

During the award presentation, Cohen stated that Marita has been with Opaa! for ten years and is loved by her school district administration, students, and parents. Marita is not new to recognition at Opaa!. She has achieved President's Circle status as a Director of Nutrition Services twice during her tenure, and has been selected for both the Company's prestigious Whatever It Takes Award and the DNS of the Year for the 2007-2008 school year.

Marita lives in Fayette, MO and serves the students in the Fayette R-III School District as the Director of Nutrition Services. She has twin sons, Dantae and Shantae Harris, an adopted son named Charles Johnson, and two grandchildren, Tae' Annia and Tae'Von. Marita says she enjoys spending her free time braiding hair, baking, going to church and being with her family.

Food Management, announced Kathy Diederich, Opaa!'s Regional Director of Operations, for central Missouri, as the recipient of the 2009-10 Regional Director of the Year award. Company officials selected Kathy as Regional Director of the Year from among Opaa!'s Regional Directors of Operation across the State of Missouri. The criteria for selection included dedication, service and support to the region, reaching the highest level of the Pursuit of Excellence program, outstanding representative for Opaa! and a committed to excellence. Cohen described Kathy as, "an employee who is not afraid of a challenge and constantly gives encouragement to her Directors".

In the presentation of this award, Cohen noted the Regional Director of the Year is selected for excellence in mentoring the Directors of Nutrition Services in his or her region, and is one who attains a high level of achievement of the Pursuit of Excellence goals within the region. Kathy is no stranger to recognition at Opaa!. She is a four-time member of the prestigious President's Circle, a previous New Director of the Year and a previous Regional Director of the Year.

Kathy began with Opaa! when the Southern Boone School District made the decision to make the change to contract food service with a management company in July of 2004. Kathy was a veteran of the Southern Boone School District and proudly served the students there since August of 1995.

Employee of the Year Award for the 2009-2010 school year! Carmen was presented the award during an all-school assembly on May 19, 2010, by Opaa! Senior Vice President - Operations, Craig Cohen. Other Opaa! leaders present at the ceremony were Robert Sanders, Executive Vice President; Scott Hoffmann, Senior Vice President - Finance and Administration; Kathy Diederich, Regional Director of Operations; and Stephanie Jennings, Director of Nutrition Services for the Southern Boone School District.

Carmen was selected for this award from among Opaa!'s 1,400 employees throughout the State of Missouri and was nominated by colleagues and peers on the basis of the following criteria:
